Bihar to confiscate corrupt official's assets
The Bihar government Friday decided to confiscate the assets of a transport department official sacked for corruption. The special vigilance court Thursday ordered the confiscation of assets of motor vehicles inspector Raghuvansh Kunwar, dismissed from service two years ago, an official said.
His property includes a four-storied house in Patna. Kunwar was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 in Aurangabad district Sep 24, 2008. During investigation, officials found a huge amount of unaccounted wealth with him.
His other properties include a plot in Patna, a house in Chaira, gold biscuits, jewellery, a jeep, Rs.1.94 lakh in cash and investments worth Rs.8 lakh. The Bihar government has so far confiscated houses of nearly half a dozen officials, including a former police chief.
