This cannot be taken sportively
The limited sports venues and the limited practice facilities available in the country are not the only constraints a sports lover faces. A further limitation comes in the form of the bribes demanded at these places to let out the facilities.
The caretaker of a reputed Sports Club in Bangalore demanded a bribe of Rs 20 from a Bangalorean to permit him to use the facilities in the free club. Our respondent ended up doing it since he wanted to practice the game desperately.
Another respondent from Bangalore wrote about the manner in which private Sports Academies loot enthusiasts by charging them high fees and refusing to give a receipt for the same. This individual paid Rs 950 for badminton coaching and was not given a receipt despite insisting on one. The academy, running for nine years, has not been providing anyone with receipts, he charges.
