Dream to own house becomes a nightmare due to the process involved
With the dream to own a house figuring on top of goals of most people, one is desperate to do anything to succeed in this. It is this all-consuming desire that proves handy for builders.
Builders insist on extra payment for providing water, electricity connections and registration of the building in one’s name. Many a time, they conspire with officials in the registration department to pocket money from hapless new flat owners.
A respondent from Chennai paid Rs 30,000 as bribe to his builder to get water and electricity connection. From the same City, another owner paid Rs 5,000 just for an electricity connection. He quotes the builder as saying, “If you want to get a connection from the Electricity Board department, you have to pay some percentage of the total value as bribe.”
One individual from Karnataka complained on our portal that his builder, in connivance with the registration department based in Begur, forced him to pay to pay a bribe of Rs 10,000 for registering his flat http://www.ipaidabribe.com/bribe-central/10000-register-my-flat-my-name.
