He paid a bribe and then forced the bribe-taker to return it!
Imagine paying a bribe when demanded and then making the person shiver in his shoes and return the money!
One of our respondents from Delhi ended up doing just that. He had visited the New Delhi railway station to give a send off to his sister. As the platform ticket counter was closed, our complainant was forced to enter the station without buying a ticket.
A Travel Ticket Examiner (TTE) stopped him and demanded he produce the ticket. The official asked him to pay up Rs 500 as fine due to non-possession of ticket. After much haggling, the TTE brought down the amount to Rs 250 and the amount was paid.
Later, the person stood near the examiner and keenly eyed him. After some time, he went to him and insisted on a receipt for the fine paid. Our respondent also demanded he specify his name and designation.
The TTE got panicky at the tone and behaviour of the person. A colleague who approached them to defuse the situation sensed some trouble and backed off.
Worried, the bribe-taker handed over the money collected to our respondent. He gleefully narrates this incident on our portal at http://www.ipaidabribe.com/bribe-central/how-i-made-ticket-collector-pee-his-pants.
This could well serve as an inspiration to many of us to stand up to such corrupt officials.
