Raising a stink over corruption!
As anyone who has experienced this situation is prone to agree with this: living with uncleared garbage in the vicinity is pretty tough.
A spokesperson, writing on behalf of residents of V. S. Enclave, in Kaggadaspura in Bangalore, states that despite the payment of Rs 2,500 to the corporation for clearing the garbage in their area, it was never done for days at a stretch. Residents were told that they had to pay the sum at the time of paying their property tax, but the job is never done despite repeated appeals to the corporation, he adds (http://ipaidabribe.com/bribe-central/paid-tax-cleaning-garbage-it-never-got-cleaned-forced-pay-bribe).
Residents from other areas write that they pay amounts ranging between Rs 20 and Rs 300 to those responsible for clearing garbage to get their work done.
Meanwhile, a resident from Mutyal Nagar in Bangalore has written to us stating that no one was clearing the garbage in their area and they were clueless how to go about the job. Someone suggested visiting the online portal of the BBMP and registering a complaint in this connection. Within hours an auto from corporation landed at their street and cleared all the gabage. This was achieved without a single rupee being paid, he writes. The best part is that the auto now comes regularly to their area and ensures the garbage is removed.
Surely, an inspiring and informative bit of news for all of us. Read more about it at
