Shameless Negotiations

Posted on March 18, 2013

“Allegedly the councillor and the department people were expecting bribe of 5000/- per apartment or a Scorpio car for the councillor… But as of now they seem to be expecting 1000/- rupees service charge for the same but no receipt. I am going to still fight this out. Will not pay a pie.”

Lack good bargaining skills? Can you never convince sellers to reduce prices on commodities you wish to buy? Worry not. Spend one day with certain corporation officials and you’ll acquire the skills of bargaining in no time. The only difference is that you will validly negotiate for reduction in prices of shoes or clothes while the officials shamelessly bargain for a bribe. Take this report for instance. The demand for a bribe fell sharply from a Scorpio or Rs.5000 per flat to Rs.1000 to assess property tax for a fairly new apartment complex.  It is good to know the complainant still refuses to ‘buy’ the offer. Keep up with the non-compliance, we say!
