Bribe is demanded at every point of service delivery. In fact, the very reason for this multi-strata presence is due to the complex nature of work, paving way for bribe-prone areas to exist. This individual from Bangalore ended up paying a bribe at multiple levels in a railway station. A railway official greeted him by a demand – “give me”. And this demand had to be met if he was to get back his own asset. It’s all about getting back what actually is yours, be it a civic right or a service. But the travesty is in the mind sets of those who fail to see this obvious aspect.
