Students bribe officers for transfer certificate

Posted on July 25, 2012

Education is the pillar of any democratic country. If Indians want to ensure this country’s name is in the list of developed countries, they need to make the education system, corruption free.

Reports submitted on our website give the other side of the story. People from different parts of the country have expressed their grievances on how the educational institutes exploit the difficult conditions of the students and their parents to their advantage. Most reports on this website show that officers take bribe from students to issue the transfer certificate (TC).

A person from Bangalore had to pay Rs. 10,000 to an educational institute to procure the TC. The person wrote to us, “This is the pathetic status of our private educational institutions, which are in fact expected to provide & nurture quality into the future citizens.”

respondent from Chennai wrote about hisexperience where he had to bribe a school officer to get a counter sign on his child’s Matriculation School's TC. Offering an excuse, the officer then went on to take Rs. 200 from the respondent. “He is making murky story and looting from all of us and understood that the respective officer is also involved in such bribe story play,” he wrote.

There are also incidents where the people fight these corrupt practices and do not bog down to the demands of corrupt officers. A person from Chennai was troubled severely by his college officers for his TC but refused to succumb. He fought his way and procured the TC without paying a single penny. Offering everyone hope he writes in, “The process should be checked and these illicit activities should be curbed. I didn’t pay a bribe.”
