When corruption raises a stink
Have a problem with the drainage system in your house? Expecting help from the local municipal authority but certain corrupt officials working for Bangalore Water and Sewage Supply Board (BWSSB), err I meant Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, are refusing to help? (No offence intended)
One call, two calls…ten calls later, you fail to elicit any sort of response from them. You must wonder why.
The continual bombardment of your olfactory sense with that awful putrid stench is not caused by the leaking sewage but the rotten and corrupt system responsible for taking care of such situations.
The lower rung of staff working for this municipal authority expects citizens to grease its palms with silver before it greases them with muck. (Technically, it’s the machines that are used for the job, not their hands per se. We do not expect them to do the job of scavengers) So much for running a machine eh?
After having to bear with drainage leak for over 6 months, this respondent from Bangalore paid Rs.5000 to BWSSB to prevent his house from getting inundated with sewage.
Putting these workers through a similar ordeal ought to teach them a lesson or two about getting work done on time.
