A Costly Drag

Posted on November 26, 2012

“As usual, I was going for my office, stopped for a cup of tea at a bakery in Chamarajpet, 3rd Main, Bangalore. I lighted the cigarette; a Police Constable came to me and asked to go with him for the Police Station….. He stopped the vehicle and told me to pay Rs. 200/- and leave, I had only Rs. 100/-”

Sounds like a bizarre incident, but rather seems a valid example for those unaware of smoking rules in India.

This respondent from Bangalore was spotted by a cop for smoking at a bakery. Instead of paying the fine, this respondent ends up bribing the cop for the sole reason of not complying with the rules. Find out why he paid a bribe.
