I bought an apartment from a builder. 100% of the payment to the builder was by cheque which by itself was a huge victory for me as I do not have any cash income. On the day of registration I was asked to report at 1530 hrs to the stamp office and ********** the builders representative with photographs,PAN cards and (ahem) Rs 9000 in CASH. On my reaching there I handed over the cash to the representative who promptly disappeared. After some time we went into one of the cabins did our biometrics, signed the papers and exited. The Rs 9000 was not in my opinion paid to the builders representative. So who could have received the amount? No prizes for guessing correctly.
