- Paid INR 1,000
I was in Delhi attempting to get my residency visa stamped at FRRO. Huge crowd before me. Was told could take 6 -7 hours and maybe next day. Told my driver to who understands the the way of the world to squeeze in to the buidling and find the guy in charge of the allocating when you get processed. Not an actual official but an important man in his own world. I handed an envelope with 1000 and was ushered to the front of the line. I was processed in 45 mins. My day rate for working in India is about 2 Lahk per day. For the sake of my clients whom pays my bills should i spend it in an overheated waiting room? You may wail that its not fair, and that some people cant afford to bribe or dont have the confidence to attempt it. Well life isnt fair is it? i am not in the slightest bit as attractive as Brad Pitt, my parents were not wealthy, etc. My 1000 bribe was fantastic value and cut through outrageous bureacracy that India seems to specialise in.
