I am traveling presently to Surat by intercity. I could not manage to book ticket so got a general ticket from Virar and boarded D2.
Luck favours the great - got the seat at Boisar.
Here comes the TC. Asked me "would you like to confirm seat." I said no and later changed to YES. As something inside said 'Koi bijane seat aapi desse'.
Got upto him and said please give me receipt and confirm the seat. The person before me had just bribed him for a seat with 50/-. He had settled the deal from Borivali.
I asked the TC to make a receipt for me. And passengers near by who had bribed that guy already with 50 each, said why taking receipt pay him and done.
I spoke at that very moment about my past complain of other TC. The TC issued me a receipt without a word and receipt was for 15/- I gave him 20/-, before I ask for change he just slipped away
Leaving the passenger 1 (who gave bribe before me)in surprise.
Something to note -
- Lack of knowledge about official charges.
- Greed if some other passenger gets the ticket, travelers do bribe.
- Jobs taken after giving bribe are based on greed to earn bribe.
- Top down authority to cover the scams based on my last complain of TC
- Fear of people ro confront and pay the price for TRUTH.
In short boils down to VALUES - Honesty, Ethics, Truth, Respect, And list goes on.
Question is not to authorities, but each of the parent, teachers, schools, society, organization who teaches to criticize, shout, blame, crib.
Can we see the good in people and bad in situations & learn to see solutions!!!
Few of the people start some initiatives - Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal, Aamir Khan, Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Ram Dev Baba, and many more all are in same ship just on different decks ... dont just get instigated or provoked take action.
Start with simple things
1) Stop throwing disposals on roads, railways or even under seat.
2) Respect each profession TC, Hawaldar, Street Cleaner, Sweeper, Rickshaw Driver
3) Smile genuinely at every soul you meet.
4) Stop giving monry to beggars.
5) Stop bargaining on streets, rather pay with love.
6) Have dinner with family without TV.
Might not sound solution to corruption, but indeed corruption is tip of an iceberg..
Make difference in your life, thoughts and world will start duplicating
