Fight for my own gift
My friend had sent me a gift (kukuclock) from Germany, I got a letter from customs to come & declare the goods. When I went there the customs officer was very rude. I gave him all the documents supporting the gift and told him also that its a gift from my friend who lives in Germany, he refused to believe it and said pay 25% of the cost to the person who will deliver your parcel, when I asked why as its a gift and I should not be paying any duty on it he said gift value above 10k are charged to duty but when I showed him the receipt of the gift n converted the value in INR the value was veryyy less than 10k so he starting shouting at me "I am here to decide the value of the gift not you, you just prove it to me that its a gift, let me also see what you will do". My friend is the owner of the online buy website through which she had sent me the gift and I got all the docs from her and a written statement to prove its a gift and at the end after total of 12 days I got my gift from customs but yes I managed not to pay bribe of 25% which he wanted from me, as his intentions were very clear from the way he spoke to me about the valuation of the gift. he was contradicting every sentence of his own.
