100rs fine followed by 200rs bribe
- Police
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Paid INR 200
I was caught smoking cigarette on a road on the outskirts of Hubli. Its the short route which connects Hubli and Shivalli. Date 20th September, 2014 at around 8pm, two police constables were passing by and caught me and filed a case under section 92B. At that time i did not know what is section 92B.
I was ready to pay the fine there itself but one of the PCs told me to pay it in the court on Monday. If I fail to pay, a warrant would be issued in my name.
He told me to meet another police Mr.Bengeri on monday in the court.
I went to the court on monday and met this person. He asked me to pay him 200rs (stating that it was his fee). I had no other choice but to pay it bcoz i was caught for smoking but the case filed on me was of Section 92B which is for "no parking" or "no entry" offence.
Ok.
I paid the fine of 100 and bribe or fee whatever u say of 200.
Now tell me,
Cigarette smoking is prohibited in public places in order to prevent inconvenience to othr people.
I agree that road are also public places.
But the place where i was smoking, hardly any people go there because it is still not completed, a bridge is still under construction.
I wasnt disturbing anyone while smoking, then why should i pay fine.
If smoking is injurious to health or a bad habit, stop manufacturing it....our government or whoever is responsible for this doesn't have the gutts to stand up n stop the root of the problem...They have solutions like Rehabilitation center, fine for smoking etc, while if they stop manufacturing of cigarettes considering it as a narcotic, tell me how many people will be able to happily due coz of cancer??
Government says smoking in public places is prohibited.
Do they mean, people can do wrong things in right places??
I mean, does the government think, if a person smokes in his house he wont get cancer. He will get cancer only if he smokes in public places.
