I was asked to come to police station after verification of home. SI at Hebbagodi, Bangalore police station after talking to me (as to why I need a passport!) asked me to pay the fees outside. Outside a constable said the fees is 200. When I hesitated, he asked me to think about it and wait all day in the station if I choose to not pay. I was not sure what they would do to my passport documents if I didn't pay - after an hour or so I ended up paying.
