I was at the passport office at 10 am only to see atleast 50 people already waiting in the queue. I was 14 years old. My father took me to the front of the line, gave me the documents and asked me to submit them in the counter. The person recieving the documents didn't mutter a word and I was wondering why, only to see him in a while taking the Rs.500 note from inside those documents into his pocket.
Also, after a month when a police constable came to my hostel(i was in college) to deliver the passport, he asked me Rs.500 without any hesitation, like it was his birth right. The warden of the hostel talked to him and made him ask only for 200 at last.
