- Paid INR 600
I had a urgent bank work for which I had to visit the local branch on MG Road, Gurgaon. As I didnt see any signs of "No parking" I parked my car adjustant to the road side walkpath without affecting movement of other vehicles and visited the bank. After finishing my work, I came out of the bank and saw the towing vehicle attendents attaching the chains to my car. Sensing trouble I ran towards the inspector/constable (not sure as he was all shabbly dressed) who was seated in the towing vehicle. Requested him to stop and told him that I'm ready to pay the challan as I had to go to the office. However he was reluctant to let me go there itself and told me to accompany him to the police station as the vehicle was already all chained up. I did arguee with him for wasting my time and his as well for which he was arrogant and insisted me to come to the station along with him. Even inspite of accompany him to the station which was 3 kms, he still took 600/- without issuing me a challan. I didnt bother to arguee further as I was late and had to leave urgently to office.
What was the necessity to tow my vehicle all the way to the police station when I had approached him at the spot and offered to pay the challan amount. This is extortion, he purposefully dragged my car all the way to the police station just to ensure that I also pay up the towing charges as well. He could have challanned me there itself and taken care of the rest of the vehicles parked. He wasted his and my time as well.
Rules have to be simple, open and straight.
