We were coming back to Mumbai from Gujerat after visiting relatives. As the car we were in had plates from Gujerat we were pulled over by a traffic cop for nothing more than to ask for a bribe. Our driver was reluctant to challenge the individual and felt that his licence and vehicle could be impounded as if a bribe was not paid. The cop asked for the bribe in pound sterling, when we told him that we only had rupees started his bidding at 1,000, we had fortunately only 1,000 cash in my wallet, we told him we had to pay the driver and eat also. He then accepted 250 rupees.
