Mandatory to pay bribe at check naka
I am working for an engineering company located at outskirts of Mumbai. Every time if any of our goods is sent to Mumbai, even after paying mandatory octroi, we have to pay Rs 100-200 to official standing at check post. It's a sort of unwritten rule to pay Rs 100-200 for every truck or tempo that passes through the check naka.
If you say no, then they harass you by saying bring this paper, bring that paper. This is not correct and that is not correct. Here is a mistake, that is wrong, etc, etc, etc.
Infact, daily thousands of trucks carry sand, bricks, and other construction material just pass through the naka by paying the regular hafta. They have "setting" in octroi for it.
Quite frankly, my personal opinion is that Lokpal bill won't be able to change anything.
