Thorough my agent I applied for passport. My agent gave me a form saying that I need the local police stations approval in order to obtain my passport. It was during election time. So, the havaldars and junior police officers played with me for 15-20 days. I was urgently in need of passport. So, one day I took my brother to the police station. He spoke to them and fortunately the senior inspector agreed to do my interview. He finally gave the approval and signature without demanding any bribe and we were happy. But as soon as we left his cabin, the junior inspector who allowed us to go inside asked for the bribe. So, my brother gave him the crisp Rs.500 note!!! We paid out of the fear because we don't trust our police officers.
