I applied for a fresh passport and had a police guy visited at my house for police verification report. He asked me to provide two witnesses from the neighborhood vouching my credentials. I provided him with requirements and wished him bye, AND there I went stunning upon him openly asking for fee of police dept and I objected as there is no such fee mentioned anywhere but understood too what he was asking for. I asked him for the amount and he said "RATE IS RS. 500/-". I lightly asked him about **********'s movement and he smilingly said that wish ********** could do a movement for police guys to raise their salaries and treat them humanly when it comes to their duty hours. Finally he said if he gets the fee, would send the positive report in just two days time. I was feeling guilty but had to bribe as he also mentioned of otherwise meeting those 2 witnesses personally sometime later when he has free time and would take about 45 days to process a police verification report for the passport.
