Passport Verification Bribe

I went with my father for the police verification of my passport. We were told directly by the cop that we could receive the passport within a week's time if we want to. And that he could take care of everything.
There was no reason why my passport should not get police clearance nor did i have an emergency. He kept on pushing and eventually said, we could have some issues with the clearance.... to which my dad repsonded and had to bribe him. I ofcourse did not follow what he (the cop) was saying till i saw my dad slip a green note in the name of a hand shake.
I hated the fact that this is how i got my passport....
