I purchased a brand new vehicle and had taken care of all the registrations, had the car insured, had the official tax receipt from the RTO office etc etc. I had temporary plates on and was waiting for the permanent plates to arrive at the dealership.
The cops at nariman point saw my car outside the Air India office building, pulled me over and demanded 2000 rupees. For what? For driving an unregistered vehicle despite showing them all the paperwork proving that the vehicle was indeed registered.
Finally we bargained them down to 500 just to get away and catch my flight at the airport. I didn't commit a crime, no traffic violations and was driving a registered vehicle. Do the cops think I'm a bank?
