Bribe required to comply with law & pay your road tax - Jayanager RTO
A vivid optimistic & a firm believer that you should say no to bribe first to stop corruption.
As responsible citizen, immediately after moving from Kolkata to Bangalore, i went to the Jayanagar RTO to pay my Road Tax.
I had all the documents (Road tax, Insurance , Pollution) except the invoice. I was asked to get in touch with hero showroom and get the invoice for 2008.
I had tried in all showrooms in vain for two, but none of the showroom guys were ready to provide the invoice.
Finally the guys at BTM Hero showroom agreed to provide a approximate cost detail.
I went back to RTO office, after requesting several officer including Account officer (Mutthuraj) it was accept and finally my request was forwarded to inspector.
To my surprise, he submitted a report saying he "intercepted, checked and found i have been plying the roads without paying road tax".
All my original documents were impounded and forwarded back to road tax department. This guy again refused to accept the invoice which was accepted after moving several tables.
Had i agreed to pay the bribe of Rs 1500 i would have saved all the harassment.
Nevertheless, i will continue my fight against corruption & will update once i successfully pay my taxes
