"Give me what you have!"

Reported on June 1, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #32001

Left turns on Bangalore roads aren't "free" at some intersections, but not marked so in many places. I was supposed to wait for a green signal before taking left, and I didn't. A constable asked me to park my car and asked me to accompany him to the sergeant some distance away. On the way he said in English, 'Give me what you have'. Those words coming from a protector of the law! 'I'll just pay the fine', I said. He looked disgusted. I paid Rs. 100 fine to the sergeant who gave me a receipt.
