Got DL without a bribe
Hi:
This was back in April 2006. I had just come back from the US. I went to the Jayanagar (Bangalore) RTO office and applied for the DL. As usual the agents outside the RTO office were behind me, but I did not encourage anyone. After paying all the fees, I took the file to the RTO, told him that I had a US DL, and he asked me to get the Learners License first and wait for 3 days after I got the LL and then apply for the DL. I did as per his instruction, he approved the DL without any questions. I collected the DL after 3 days. Did not pay a single paise as a bribe. No one asked for the bribe.
I guess you don't have to pay bribe if you go as per the law or regulation. I am not sure if I was lucky in this case.
