The clerk/cashier who sits in the cashiers section of the 42nd Metropolitan…

Reported on June 5, 2014 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #41201

The clerk/cashier who sits in the cashiers section of the 42nd Metropolitan Magistrates' Court at Shindewadi, Dadar, Mumbai asked for 'chai-paani' for issuing receipt for cash bail money.
Of course I refused and animatedly told my lawyer that I have never paid any bribe in my life and threatened to go to the judge and report the incident. I was persuaded to cool down by my lawyer.
The clerk understood that he was barking up the wrong tree.
Several others present in the room told me that they have paid the clerk small amounts of Rs50 or so. It seems that the police constable sitting in the room to help count the notes also asks for "chai-paani'.
This is disgusting that this can happen in the very precincts of the court which is passing out punishments to others !!
