All pay no work

Reported on February 16, 2011 from Visakhapatnam , Andhra Pradesh  ι Report #28507

This happened on a Sunday. I had to transport my 2-wheeler from Vizag to Angul-Orissa. There was only 1 direct train which runs on Monday night i.e Hirakund Express. Me and my husband couldnt get the reservation for ourselves in it but decided to parcel our vehicle in that since the train left on Monday night and reached Angul directly on tuesday morning. We were informed that booking will not take place on the day before the train's schedule. We were asked to come on Monday. We informed that we are departing on Sunday night itself since we had to change trains at Bhubaneswar. When he said that it wasnt possible, we were leaving disheartened. Once outside, the parcel booking officer send his sub-ordinate to tell us that it would happen at a price. We were desperate to transport the vehicle because Angul is a place devoid of local transportation. We had to agree.
It was only after going to Angul we realised how we were cheated. There is no unloading point of Hirakund Express at Angul. And I really dont believe Railway officials dont know this thing. The vehicle was unloaded first in bhubaneswar. We went to bhubaneswar and were informed it was transported in a local passenger train to angul, but when we enquired in angul, they had no report of this. Then we tracked it down in Rourkela and went there. I was informed that they will try to send in next few days. When finally i couldnt take the stress anymore I broke down into tears infront of the railway officials and was noticed by the police who were patrolling there. They showed sympathy to us and told us we would get our vehicle by next day. We didnt believe them but unable to do anything we came back to Angul. But as promised we got it the next day. It was a 18 days ordeal i never want to face in life again.
