BBMP officials take bribe in Mahadevapura area office..
While paying this years property tax online for the first time, i noticed it still reflected the old owners name.. I had got the Khata transferred into my name last year (for which I had to shell 6000 rupees). Even after the transfer my name was not reflecting online. So I went to Mahadevapura BBMP office which is opposite Phoenix market city Mall, Bangalore.. Submitted my appplication.. Ran around for more than a month and everytime I go they used to say the top official is on leave come next day. It got very frustrating since the last date for tax submission was approaching.. after more than 1 month of torture I go there and finally they agree to pass my papers around and the guy takes me to the final guy and says "Look after him" which means pay the bribe. This is really bad.. and just for a name change.. had to pay 2000 stating that I had only that much, though they demanded more!
This needs to change otherwise people will lose faith in clean government.
