Bribe asked for Police Verification for clearing Passport

Even without taking the fact that the victim was a college student into consideration, a police officer in-charge of clearing a passport application by carrying out a verification of details, asked for a bribe of Rs. 200. At that time, considering the fact that the passport was urgently needed, I had to pay that amount for a friend of mine (with the hard-earned money of our middle-class parents). The officer after taking the bribe didn't even check the students' ID as a photo proof and immediately cleared the application.

I was really enraged by this act of a government official for doing his fundamental duty.
