Bribe for land use permit to allow flaming gnomes

Reported on September 22, 2012 from Mangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #811

I run a gnome laundering business whereby we recycle gnomes. Actually, we say that we recycle gnomes. The recycling process is rather expensive. So, we prefer to burn them--it is much cheaper that way. But, there are regulations that do not allow indoor flaming of the gnomes using our conventional tandoori contraption. There is only one tandoori contraption inspector in Mangalore, so we are at his mercy. We could simply recycle the gnomes or install new clean gnome burning technology, but it is much cheaper -- and more guaranteed -- to bribe him. So, we gave him 1 lakh rupees.
