Bribe for no reasons at time of police verification while Passport processing at Police station

I applied for passport for which i had to go at Dombivli ********** Nagar Police station. I was carrying all my reqired documents along with two neighbours ( they were also carrying all the required legal documents). After asking 2-3 questions police constable who was handling my application, directly asked me for Rs.200/-. But i had no guts to ask "WHY" though i was aware that he is asking for bribe, i had to pay him Rs.200/-. After that i waited in the same room to get the exact IDEA. I observed that evry police at the verification table was taking bribe of Rs.100 or 200/- from every applicant.
