Bribe from Tourists - In a Police way of cheating

Reported on April 2, 2013 from Coimbatore , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #34357

I am IT professional working at Coimbatore. I was on a bike trip to OOTY(nearby hill station) with my friends on 03/31/2013 during an weekend. I drove an FZ bike(with papers, insurance, license, helmet, pollution certificate) when i reached a landmark called Botanical Garden i was stopped by an police constable. He asked me to stop my bike near his control room, i was with a big question mark wondering why he stopped me. Then he showed me board over the partition which not more that a brick's size and cannot be viewed by person over 40, thats how the font size is.

F**** police as usual listed my list of crimes, passing through one way etc etc.. Atlast he came to the most expected dialogue.

"Where to do you wish to pay the fine??" at court Rs,1250 or for me Rs,600.

Finally without any option we paid an bribe of Rs,200 to rescue our bike.

What an cheap beggar he is ;)
He accepted the money and started looking for the next bike.

Note : We(group of 8members in 5bikes) had police stopping the vehicles for every 20kms on the way down to Coimbatore, paid bribes(with dummy notices from police) 3 times on the same day.

Frustrated about biking in a single day :) :)

Though its shameful as an citizen to offer a bribe, the brutal actions & speech of police makes us without any options. Still with a guilt of being an corrupting Indian!!!
