As an engineer working with a IT firm, foreign trip was on the cards.For passport I had 10th board certificate, Employers letter, Bank Statement to provide Date of birth,address.First the Passport office gave me a run around for 4 months and closing my application file due to place of birth not on the 10th board certificate. They insisted on School leaving certificate which was submitted for college admission 8 years earlier. Then proceeded with a affidavit and a delay of another 2 months. Now police verification at local Vartak nagar thana, since living in a rented accomodation being from another state in India, landlord does not provide rent reciept or any verification that I stay there. My employer Larsen & Toubro obliged me with a proof of employment, residence and with Bank account stating the same was enough, but to the local policeman he needed Rs.100 to push the file to the head office where it sat for another month when I got notice from Passport office for non availability of Police verification. So I go there and find out I was being asked 3 **********'s. For a moment I was surprised but I had no other way to get a passport and according to passport office rules the files are closed after 6 months and 2nd notice. Besides having additional pressure from the employment.It left me emotionally scarred that to prove that I am Indian and every thing is in order.I still regret it to this day.
