EXCISE DEPARTMENT ALCOHOL BANGALORE
I recently started my restaurant in central bangalore. I thought it was simple in getting liquor license transfered, but was mistaken.
Total bribe given 3lakhs + 2lakhs by my side.
time taken to get work done, over 10 days!
The most arrogant and most corrupt officer i have ever met. I had to literally sit like a servant to get my work done.
He has a private employee who collects the cash and delivers it to him. We are asked to leave our mobile phones out before entering his office, so people dont record whats happening.
the 3 lakhs i paid is for only this commissioner, i ended up spending over 5 lakhs in bribe to the inspector, and all officials. I dont understand why we pay tax to the government ????
All this said, i was waiting to get my work around the new year time, when there are lot of people getting extensions for the 31st night. Since i was waiting from morning 10 to evening 5 for so many days, i ended up talking to many license holders.
the commissioner took between 20 thousand to 5 lakhs bribe from license holders depending on the size of their business. There was a cupboard filled with cash! From what i saw there must have been atleast 20-30 lakhs.
I feel even the lokayukta needs to check their people since on the 30th December when i was waiting, the Commissioner suddenly left from his office. and when enquiring since i was waiting for over 4 hours. I heard he got a tip off that there may be raids in the office.
I saw sweet boxes being loaded with cash and shifted.
I heard this officer has been raided and caught before, but since he is some ministers relative, he still is a commissioner !!!.
Kindly check on this, i am very angry and frustrated!. Even more that this officer is getting a promotion. These officers behave like criminals, black mailing us people who are trying to make a living.
I was told by fellow restauranteurs not to complain else they will make life hell for us in making false fines etc.
I havent mentioned my name and details since I am scared that this officer will trouble me in the future if he comes to know my details.
Also to add every official in this department is corrupted. I was told every year on renewal of license a bribe of 1 lakh is a compulsory pay to the commissioner and 50 thousand to the inspector and officers.
I dred the day when the renewals come, as i have to face these thugs again!
i hope necessary action will be taken to cleanse this system!
