I went to Mumbai Railway Station from Mumbai Airport to go my home. I was coming after visiting UK, so I was having 2 big bags and 2000 GBP cash. I was all alone, so Railway Police caught me telling that there is something suspicious need to check in my bag.
He dragged me to the private room of police station at Mumbai Central Railway Station. It was 5:30 AM morning. He checked everything and did not find anything. He then checked my wallet and asked me from where did I got 2000 GBP? I said my father gave me as I went for europe tour. He said you can not go with this huge amount of cash. I said I know the rule an International Passenger can travel with 10,000 USD or equivalent without any issue.
He started scolding me telling do not teach me rule. He told me to give 40 GBP then only he will allow me to go with my luggage to catch the train. It was 5 mins left to depart the train. so finally I gave him 40 GBP (pounds) and went to home.
It was a time when mumbai local trains bomb blast happened. I think police is spending all their time in earning money like this rather than catching actual terrorist.
