Property Transfer Bribe!

The process is straightforward as far as I am aware. We bought a Flat in Mumbai and had to visit the registration office in Bandra for the name transfer. A total of Rs. 10000/- was paid in bribe to the babus by the person who was managing this process for us to get the work done in time.

I was very adamant in paying the same but eventually had no option as the person said if we do not pay the bribe the work won't be done. Looking at the face of the babu sitting there, I was very angry, but since my entire family was around, I decided to complete the process smoothly instead of confronting them. Till date, I really regret encouragin corruption, but I am not sure what could have been the other way out.
