Sad But True
- Income Tax
- Income Tax Refund
- Paid INR 30,000
Being a salaried man, with no scope of any other income, my tax deducted at source was on the higher side. After filing for tax returns I had to wait for two years before a notice arrived at my door step to ********** an officer at the IT department with clarifications and proofs. Although submitted at the time of filing the taxes, i had to do this again, this gentleman saw the documents and asked for some more documents. LAter he got transferred somewhere. A couple months later I got another letter from another officer demanding a meeting, so along with the file I went to ********** him. He made me run around thrice on three different occasions( one visit means I day of work in the office lost). I had all the proof required but no result. Finally someone told me to pay an X% of the refund and you will get it. I paid and magically my file moved and got my returns. I have no words to say. Painful as it is to deal with govt officials, for everything you have to pay or waste your precious time running from pillar to post. I live by principles and frankly speaking I do not ever want to pay a bribe. But the officials will create a situation where you have no escape.
