I was on the way from office to home. Traffic polic standing under the bridge in ********** nagar stopped me though i did not violate any traffic rule. Asked me the DL,Insurance & Pollution Certificate. I showed my DL , RC and PC. Unfortunately i left my Insurance certificate ( Renewed) at home today. So i told the same and told him that i will get the renewed ones, and asked him to keep the DL with him. Initially he took my DL and asked me to bring the renewed ones. But when i started my bike he asked me to stop and he said they will not be waiting for me there and i have to go to court to collect my DL. I agreed to go to court and collect my DL. Again he called his inspector and threatened me that i should pay 900/- for not possessing insurance certificate with me. Again i made him clear that if i don't renew it, i have to pay 900/-. but if i left at home why i should pay 900/-. But he did not listen, Finally he forced me to give 100/-. I was in a hurry to take conf call by 5.00 PM. So finally i gave him 100/-. Traffic police should better concentrate on managing the traffic violators/Offenders rather than standing under the bridges where you will never see a traffic jam. Secondly, they should not be rude to the citizens.After all they are getting paid from our taxes and they are treating us their servants. I guess soft skills are needed for these traffic cops and the constables handling the bribes for the inspectors are less educated and behaving like roadside idiots. I really like the columns by Mr.********** ********** , but Mr. ********** should better reform his department first and then write columns.
