Very Foul language used to embarrass me in paying the bribe!

Reported on March 29, 2011 from Thane , Maharashtra  ι Report #25141

I wanted a police character certificate for migration purpose. The police constable refused to give it to me in spite of no adverse information against me. I did not want to pay him the bribe because I believe it is the one of the most humiliating things to do. I am a professional man, not used to rough talk from anyone. This police constable used very foul language ( like Madarc...d, Behnch..d and a lot of other indescribable stuff) in front of my father, friend and the whole police station. I felt like replying him back but I needed the character certificate urgently, as I had to send it abroad. So with very heavy heart and absolute humiliation I paid him the money. Now I am a foreign national & When I describe this experience of mine to my western friends, they are dumb founded! One of the reasons I left India was the rampant corruption and the idea of living with it everyday was scary and dehumanising.
