Reported on May 29, 2015 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #61254

We are three NRIs who inherited a flat from my father who died in 2012. In order to sell the flat we were told by buyer's lawyers we needed to register the Probate and get a Deed of Transmission for the flat. Our lawyer said the Registrar would give us a ten minute appointment at 2pm on Thursday 16th April to do this but only if we paid a cash fee of Rs. 75,000. As the three of us had flown from UK and our buyer has flown from US and was due to return that weekend we felt we had no choice but to pay. I believe the buyer was also charged Rs. 20,000 for her appointment to register the Sale Deed at the same office at 4pm on 17th April 2015
