Wrong way to ticket counter

Reported on June 6, 2011 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #8322

It was in year 2004. Those were ********** festival days. I was in Mumbai that time. I wanted to board local train from Kurla station (sub urban area in Mumbai) to ********** my relatives staying in Dombivali. I never had chance to go to Kurla station and hence was not aware of ticket counter location. When I reached station I saw and arrow indicating direction for ticket counter. In hurry I walked up the stairs without realizing that I’m going inside railway platform. I barely walked inside looking for window; a ticket checker asked me for ticket. I told him that I just entered here and looking for ticket counter only. I argued with him showing the direction of arrow. He got angry and took me in one room. There were many people sitting inside room (looked like railway employees). He asked me to take out my wallet from my pockets. There were 3-4 Rs 10 notes and one Rs. 1000 note. He asked me to keep Rs. 1000 in one register. Please notice he did not touch the money. Then other person took the register and after some time came with 10 notes to Rs. 100. The ticket checker asked me to take 9 notes from it and showed me the way to ticket counter and agreed that arrow showing direction to ticket counter was misleading.
