Carrying 1500 USD legal cash

Was asked by customs official if I had some USD with me, I did as I was a student then. They asked me if I papers to prove that this was obtained legally. I did not have any since I was a student in Oslo Norway, they started harassing me and finally said if I pay them some money they will let me go. I paid Rs 2000 to them and got on my way.
