Extortion by custom personnel at Mumbai airport

It was my only entry to India via Mumbai airport. I never had such issue in Delhi. One smiling custom pro stopped me and said you have $20,000 stuff in your bags. I told him the list of items. which were within custom limits. But he demanded $200 bribe, and threatened that anything can be found in my bags, "tum nahi jante hum kucch bhi kar sakte hein". Finally, $20 was negotiated, which he asked me to give to a hawaldar standing on the gate.
