Last time I visited India, I carried an LED TV as a gift to my parents. The total cost was Rs.28000 at the then value of the rupee. The custom official did not have the model name listed.I showed the receipt from a well known retailer in Singapore. The officer informed me that I have to pay duty for anything that's worth more than 25000. I accepted to pay the duty. The official asked me to pay Rs.3000. He gave me a recpt for 700.
