India's finest and their remarkable shamelessness

I live in USA and was visiting India, after I collected my bags and my fiancees bags, we were about to exit, where the Customs people do one last scan of hand-luggage where travelers carry their valuables. My fiancee was carrying a gold-biscuit, and was very much within the limits of allowed amount of gold. But the custom officers have pulled her to the side and started demanding her money, when she said she only had about $60, they have asked if she carries a Credit Card, and there are ATMs in the premises from where she can withdraw the amount. There was whole lot of back and forth and shameless heckling, finally she haggled with them to $100 and paid that amount in the plainsight (or else they would have dragged her into some inspection room and would have harassed even more), after this whole episode, when we two were existing out the gate, another Customs guy heckled for $20 from me, out of disgust and anxious to get out and ********** my parents I look a $20 note and gave it him, even though I was not carrying anything of value other than my personal notebook.

These are the poeple we trust to stop the contraband from flowing into the country. God bless India, because India needs God more than ever with guards like this who needs enemies.
