Any company that is excise registered has to pay their range office a monthly amount of 1000-5000. This is irrespective of the fact whether that company is doing anything wrong or not. Apart from this every 4-5 years there is a vigilance audit and those guys ask for min 40K. This is the amounts they are taking from firms that are absolutely clean and paying full govt tax. So can you imagine what amounts they would be taking from companies that are doing things like under invoicing etc. And unfortunately these guys have the authority to close down your factory so one doesnt have any option but to pay
