I was coming from San Francisco to Hyderabad.I was carrying 2 laptops with me.One was my office laptop,for which I carried a document saying that the asset belongs to the company and the other was my personal laptop.
According to rules any person coming from other country can carry one personal item and one business laptop.But the guy at the customs asked me to pay $100 for my personal laptop,which is 2 years old.I informed him that its a personal laptop and I can carry it with me,without paying any duty tax.He did not listen to me and said to leave the laptop at the airport and collect it while leaving the country.All the other officers supported him,though I am right and not evading any taxes.All these officers share our bribe at the end of the day.
Finding no other way I was forced to give $70 and leave the place.
