Tourist not allowed to bring Camera worth USD 200.00

The customs officers (group of 4) demanded that I pay duty on a camera otherwise will be confisticated. Told them I was a tourist, but they still demanded. Asked them to keep it until I return but was told that the storage may cause damage. Finally I paid USD 100.00 to the guard waiting outside as instructed.
